I review only fiction novels. I try to keep this blog more on the professional side so nonfiction books get a little to personal rather than discussing character/plot/writing quality. I also try to avoid books with a ton of cussing or sexual content (ex. ACOMAF is the most I can handle, just because of what I believe) On the genre side I DO NOT review
this type of book is a little more edgy and also has vampires and stuff like that which really isn’t my cup of tea. BUT I have been known to enjoy paranormals like the Infernal Devices so you should probably check with me before writing this off as a no.
okay people. I’ve tried this genre and it’s a little too on the cheesy side for me. I’ve enjoyed one Amish Romance movie, but the books aren’t my cuppa.
this one isn’t a complete no, as long the sexual/cussing content isn’t huge. ACOMAF is technically new adult and I love that so if you have a new adult book and it doesn’t have a ton of sexual content or cussing, email me!
I’m not 5. BUT HEY if this is a YA picture book I MAY BE INTERESTED.
like with paranomal and new adults, this isn’t an absolute no! I’m just easily freaked out so I don’t choose thrillers for myself but the ones I’ve read I’ve really enjoyed!
WHEN WILL I REVIEW SAID BOOK?
unless I request a book through a review site with a specific time rule, I try to review books by their release date but honestly I’m awful at that. BUT I promise I will try and review your book within three to four months of receiving it!
WHAT DO MY REJECTIONS MEAN?
“I’m not accepting review copies at this time”
obviously this one means HarperCollins uploading new ARCs to Edelweiss and I requested 20 of them! I also use this excuse because it sounds better than “NO” and honestly I don’t want to be a jerk.
This could also mean that your book synopsis didn’t grab me like I wanted it to. I only have so much reading time so I can’t always say yes
let’s be honest: this is my excuse when my answer is no. It sounds good and keeps me from being a jerk. IT’S MY CUSHION OF PROTECTION YO. It is also my prerogative to say no. If I don’t explain why I said no, that’s okay. No is no.
WHAT FORMAT DO I READ IN?
A lot of the time I read e-ARCs. I accept physical copies as well, but I read ebooks faster.
AM I A NICE PERSON?
let me be honest here. If I dislike your book I’m going to say it. FREEDOM OF SPEECH YO. I try to avoid being super degrading and rude, and I never insult the author. I merely point out what went wrong for me and I ALWAYS recommend for people to read the novel and form their own opinion rather than writing a possible favorite off because I said I disliked it. I NEVER tell people not to read a book just because it didn’t work for me.
WILL I ALWAYS RESPOND?
yes! even if I’m not going to say yes, I always try to respond to you. It might take awhile, because, let’s be honest, my inbox is a mess, but I will always.
WILL I KEEP MY PROMISES?
If I promise to review your book, I will! If it isn’t review within the time frame I gave you, it’s merely because I got swamped with review copies OR I died(because, let’s be honest, have you SEEN my TBR?)
WHERE WILL I REVIEW YOUR BOOK?
it depends on my free time when I review your book, but I always post my review on GOODREADS and MY BLOG. If I have a little extra time I’ll also post on AMAZON.
WILL I BE HONEST?
I am nothing if not honest! I never lie about my opinions.
WHAT SHOULD INCLUDE IN YOUR PITCH?
Please include a BLURB and the COVER of your novel, as well as the PUBLISHER name(if self published, this is not required).
So that’s it! If you still want to send me books to review after reading this mammoth of a review policy, email me! my email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org
